Heroes At Vivocity

I went down to Vivocity this afternoon to catch the cast, or rather only 4 members of the cast, namely Ali Larter who plays the role of Niki/ Jessica Sanders, Greg Grunberg who plays Matt Parkman, Sendhil Ramamurthy who plays Mohinder Suresh and my favourite cute, bubbly, endearing Masi Oka who plays Hero Nakamura, oops, I mean Hiro Nakamura.

Look at the red carpet treatment on my left and right and the number of people waiting to receive them!!!









I took a video of them walking down the red carpet, admist all the hunky (NOT), lovely (NOT), handsome (NOT), irritating (YES), pushy (YES), rude (YES) bodyguards surrounding them.


I know I'm mean by describing these people as above and I know that they have to do their jobs to protect the celebs. However, they are already huge, tall, bulky. It's damn hard for us fans who are slightly tinier in size to take a picture of our favourite artistes. And it doesn't help that these guys surround them as though these artistes cannot be exposed to air. Thus, fans swarm... These men ask us to move back, we swarm, because we can't see shit! Then these guys use force and start pushing.

Wouldn't things be easier if the red carpet is barricaded both with metal and human? I know it would cost the organisers lots more, but with these barricades, the artists would have a little more time to mingle with the crowd and because of the swarming fans who want to so desperately get a good picture, pushing the artistes to move along as fast as possible to avoid the swarms would actually cause more swarms. Think MTV Asia Awards and their red carpet, organisers...

Too Much Shit... Sometimes...

What am I doing here at 3+ in the morning? Shouldn't I be asleep? Sometimes I feel I have too much to blog about, I don't know where to start from. I'm not suffering from what some call as a blogger's/writer's blog, but my mind is kinda overloaded with things to write or blog about. Maybe I whine too much and complain too much, that's why I have so much shit to write about.

When I do know how to phrase or tie up ideas of what I want to write or blog about, I would not be in front of my lappy...
Sometimes I have already tucked myself into bed, by then I'm too sleepy and would just doze off.
Sometimes, I'm bathing and when these surface, I would try to remember them, but often I would end up, staring at the lappy, knowing I have to do something, but don't know what.
Sometimes, I'm on the bus, train or cab, with no lappy, no paper, no pen.

How To Take Title Away From Man Utd

I adore Man Utd, it is my favorite soccer club. So, it took me some time to gather my thoughts of yet another of my favorite players leaving my favorite football club, I'm sad, angry, fustrated, amused, bewildered, whatever reactions you can think of. With Heinze's departure, I really don't know what the manager is thinking about!

If Yosei Moringno, Arse Weng, Lafiel Benitext or even Loy Kin need any advice to win the league, here's how...

Everyone knows that Gary Neville won't be back in action so soon. Everyone knows that Patrice Evra always can't decide between attacking and defending. Everyone knows that Rio Ferdinand's and Wes (Where's) Brown's minds are often light years away. Everyone knows that you are now left with other good defenders whom you don't play often such as Nemanja Vidic, John O'Shea and Mikael Silvestre, even though they are in form because you simply refuse to drop the other 3. The rest are too young and lack experience.
By doing the "legitimate" way of sabotaging other players to get booked or use of any violent conduct that renders a ban, target Vidic, Ferdinand and Brown and any other youngsters that come along. O'Shea and Silvestre are the "calmer" ones, so a bit hard...

Since we are on the topic of booking players, please get the "hotter" heads like Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Scholes booked, so that my Chris Eagles can get to play. I had to say this because someone simply refuse to let Eagles play ahead of a player who goes by a Japanese nickname of nani, as he is now the "new invisible man", sharing the title with Michael Carrick. By the way, Nani, which coincidentally or not, is actually his real name...

Anyway, we are soooooo lacking strikers now. If Louis Saha forever does not recover match fitness, and if something happens to Carlos Tevez, good news for the rest of the Big 4 lor... Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is out, so is Wayne Rooney. So, we can only rely on ??? Don't ask me... Sell lor, sell Giuseppe Rossi lor...

If anyone noticed, this is a rant to let our anger and fustrations and I was actually crying while typing this... Please don't take this seriously... And I still blindly hope that Man Utd can win the title this year... Sigh...

I was thinking why would he bother to disseminate this kinda info, and we had never threaded on a topic of finding who has blocked whom on msn. I googled, but couldn't find such a webby. I shortened the search to "checker.tk" but still no such webby.

I Am A Doughnut Idiot

Remember about my post on Singaporeans being doughnuts idiots? Today, I succumbed to being one... After my post, my ego told me that I would be rather caught dead than walk around carrying bags of "inferior" doughnuts. Today, I didn't mind being caught dead... I walked around with these...

I had tried this newly opened doughnut outlet in front of MacDonalds at Clementi Central. It was awfully small, icing was a tad sweet, overpowered the dough (I think the main reason was there wasn't enough dough because the doughtnuts are really tiny) and the dough lacked oomph.

Blah blah, I didn't practiced what I preached. But I wanted to buy breakfast for tomorrow... I was tired after school, carrying a bag weighing 5kg, really lazy to walk further down to a confectionary, and even lazier to walk down a flight of steps to a confectionary, which meant I had to climb up the flight of steps later. So the alternatives were to buy either doughnuts, 3 for $2 pastries or min chang kuay. Since Dear was buying ice-cream and I was craving for doughnuts and yes, I was lazy, I fell prey to the "inferior" doughnuts.

As for the issue of a local weekly magazine which had an article about doughnuts, I went ahead and tried the one which had the same amount of stars as my favorite, Pop Doh at Takashimaya B2. The icing wasn't too sweet, which was good and it blended well with the dough. It was a big big pity that the dough wasn't up the my expectations.

Man Utd Is Now Bottom Of The Table

3 games played, 2 draws, 1 loss, adding further insult, the loss is to Man City in today's derby. Some points which I think could attribute to the situation now...

1) Fergie started Nani, and throughout his 59 minutes on the pitch, all his moves except for a few good passes, I was almost pulling out my hair, screaming nani in Japanese... His crosses were %&(^!#...

2) If Chris Eagles started instead of coming on in the 59th minute for Nani, he could have major contribution to the game. I'm not being biased, but Eagles' 31 minutes of work on the pitch was so much more beneficial compared to Nani's.

3) However matters are not settle, why can't play Gabriel Heinze? He was not even on the bench! So you have Vidic and Wes Brown whom I think were a complete mess in this game. Brown as usual is always daydreaming and Vidic, cowardly siam and result in the lone goal of the game. If it was Heinze, he would have moved forward and tackled that fella.

4) It is hard to throw a whole bunch of players who have not played together before to create miracles. The players need communication and 默契. Especially when you are playing attacking football, it is damn hard for players who have not played together to gel. How do you think Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole had so many goals for Man Utd last time?

I'm really really getting disappointed with Fergie. Like what Dear said, he prefers tried and tested players. Who doesn't? But can they gel and make the team work? Football is a blardi team game!

Are You Sleep Deprived?

Was reading through my textbook for Behavioral Science, which is a Psychology module and I found this interesting.

You may be sleep deprived if you...
1) fall asleep watching TV, in lectures, meetings or warm rooms (sometimes, in Poly, I always sleep during Film History classes...)
2) feel tired, irritable or stressed out for much of the say (sometimes)
3) have trouble concentrating or remembering (sometimes)
4) fall alseep after heavy meals or after a low dose of alcohol (alcohol, nope... heavy meals, I just feel sleepy and yawn, who doesn't?!)
5) fall asleep within 5 minutes of getting into bed. A well rested person actually takes 15-20 minutes to fall alseep. (Sometimes)
6) actually need your alarm clock to wake up (I have 3 and I still oversleep...)
7) find getting out of bed in the morning is a struggle. (If I have 3 alarm clocks and still oversleep, what do you think?)

So, concluded, I'm sleep deprived and I not pig...

I Not Pig

Don't call me "pig". I've got reasons for sleeping in...

Ever since staying up late doing the advertising group presentation, I think for 2 months now, I haven't been really able to recharge. Lessons, studying, doing ASSignments, preparing for classes and quizes, etc, and now lessons have started again. I haven't been able to get my daily 8-9 hours of sleep I must have, even sleeping in for a few more hours on certain days, I haven't been able to feel recharged as the days and weeks after, it's going to be back to the 5-6 hours nightly.

We normally don't get Saturdays off, and usually have classes on Saturdays. Thanks to the lecturer's request, now for this module, Behavioral Science, we do get Saturdays off... And thanks to that, I slept at about 12 midnight yesterday and only woke up at 4pm just now. 16 hours of sleep, I'm still yawning. No thanks to the weather too... It's raining and it's sooooo cooling to sleep in. I want to zzzzzzzzzz...

Noisy Wake, Yet...

Warning/Disclaimer: Read the entire post carefully before deciding to flame me or not...

The freaking loud chanting and prayers at the wake held in the void deck of the block opposite my flat went on for about an hour and had just stopped. I believe they are praying for someone of Soka belief because I could recognise the "nam myoho renge kyo". The chantings were loud because I could hear them from my 8th floor flat. Ok lah, I admit I wasn't staying that far away lah.

But, I was really touched... Really really touched by the chanting and praying and the blessing these kind people were offering to the deceased. They went on and on for about an hour and sat in a position which I know could be quite tiring. My sis said they had did it yesterday too.

I hope their chanting could go on and on and as loud as possible, even louder than the "volume" I've heard. As they were chanting, I could hear the sincerity in their voices. I hope their God will be able to hear their blessings and prayers and bless them too. These are kind and nice people and I hope their good karma will be repaid...

I feel so touched that I really feel like crying now...

Hearing her sing so sadly and painfullly makes me wana cry because being a fan and knowing all kinda rough patches she has endured through, I know exactly what the lyrics mean to her. After holding back the tears so many times, I finally cried hearing her sing "live" just now on 我爱黑涩会. 阿妹, 为设么要唱的那么悲伤? Die, concert I must prepare lots and lots of tissue liao...

Do All Male Pingsters Have A Belly?

That day at Ping.sg gathering at Secret Recipe, someone (not gonna say names...) said that most male pingsters have belly. Well, after going out for supper (which is already fattening) on last Friday night with them, I realized this might be the reason why...

Offering Wireless@SG? More Like Wireless(not)@SG!

This was spotted at a fast food restaurant in Holland Village which has Wireless@SG avaliable.
Wireless@SG is a wireless broadband programme developed by IDA to let Singaporeans have easier access to the Internet outside of home and this is a government initiative. By discouraging use, why do you bother even to offer? Here, the government is pushing to "wire up" the entire island, and here you are discouraging use... Tsk tsk...

What happened as seen above is that cardboards with the words "DO NOT USE" were used to cover up the power sockets. When people work out of home for various reasons, they would need minimally a power socket and being able to access the Internet is a plus. And by covering up these sockets, customers are not able to power up their laptops (and we know laptop batteries don't last amazingly) and connect to the Internet at these places.
So, if you are not interested in letting customers use their laptops at your restaurants, may I ask why in the world are you bothering to offer Wireless@SG too? Are you trying to discourage use of a government's initiative? I definately think so! the government is pushing to "wire up" the entire island, and here you are discouraging use?! I don't freaking understand. I think they are supporting Wireless(not)@SG instead...

To me, it simply makes no complete sense to offer Internet access but not power sockets. How much power can one's laptop consume? Even if customers sit there the whole day using your electricity, the money earned from the food and drinks purchase would be enough to cover, wouldn't it?

A few shops down, another cafe was offering Wireless@SG too, and it was packed with people using their laptops there, because they did not cover up their power sockets. Everyone was having a drink from this cafe and that means business! If the above fast food restaurant did not cover up the power sockets, I'm sure they would fetch in more business too, because it was freakingly empty.

Are Some Blogs Really Worth Our Attention?

Why do we even fucking bother to read senseless entries blogged by insensitive idiots who are worth maybe lesser than a piece of shit?! Why do we even bother to lift our fingers to "pong" them and contribute to their blog traffic? Just because they have a weird sense of humor to the extent of being mean? I read an entry in nadnut's blog about some $#&!#*% "top" blogger and I got so agitated that I told nadnut I would help her to spread the word about this idiot. If you haven't read nadnut's entry, you can read it here.

I know I can be damn mean sometimes too, but I don't curse someone who is already missing to drown. Even being mean and having hatred will have a certain extent rite? So many people are already worried about her and keeping a lookout for her for fear that she is in danger. Her family members are definately worried too!

Try to imagine and put yourself in the shoes of her family, friends and relatives. Wouldn't you be worried if someone close to you is missing? No news, nothing. And you have other senseless idiots who give false news and tipoffs of her whereabouts, sending her loved ones around in circles. How about having someone curse your family member dead when he/she is already missing? How would you feel, u idiot senseless creature?!

What goes around comes around and I really agree with others that bad karma will come and haunt you... Be afraid... Be really really afraid...

"Vanity" Car Plate Spotted In Singapore

I was in a cab in the evening (about 6.55pm) along Napier Road, just after Gleneagles Hospital, when the taxi uncle pointed out to me that the car plate number of the car in front of us was DK 65 OXL. I was like "huh", eyes blink blink and tried to re-confirm what I had seen. I know that we have plans to have vanity car plates aka personalized car plates in Singapore, but so soon?

I have 3 speculations about this and please correct me if I'm wrong.
1) I don't think this car could have been a Thai or Malaysian car that drove all the way down here because I doubt Thailand or Malaysia has a car plate number beginning with DK.
2) Could it be that the car was shipped or air-freighted over from another country?
3) Singapore has started issuing vanity car plates.

I don't have a pic to prove what I've seen because by the time I whipped out my phone from my bag, this white/ cream Chrysler 300C changed lane to turn into Tanglin Road while my cab went straight up into Grange Road, bypassing it. And the people who were in the car looked Chinese. Someone shed some light? Has anyone seen this car on the roads before?

As my darling Gabriel Heinze's future in Man Utd is still not very decided yet, he has been dropped from no. 4 to 14, the shirt vacated by Alan Smith. Looking at no. 1 to 11, you can tell who's in the first 11 and who's not.
No. 12 has been given to Ben Foster, hinting that he is 2nd in line in goal, going by traditions. But Tomasz Kuszczak, who is actually 2nd in line in goal is not given no. 12...
Shirt no. 19 reads Gerard Piqué, and I'm really pissed about this. Firstly, as new signings and the reserves move up into the senior squad and "fill up the gaps" in the numbering, why is my Chris Eagles not being considered priority for no. 19? Secondly, during the asian tour and friendlies pre-season he was wearing 19. I'm so damn blardi pissed as he looks as if he is still in the reserves squad as compared to Piqué, Jonny Evans, Danny Simpson, Phil Bardsley, Darron Gibson, Lee Martin, and Eagles is "senior" when compared to some of them! Grr...

Actually quite pissed with the Gaffer. He said he would not make much changes to the squad that played against Inter Milan for the FA Community Shield, only just a few. And one of the few changes was Eagles. He started againt Inter, but sat on the bench for the Shield. Bah!

Well, I didn't write that song but I was part of it, or rather... almost part of it... Which Singaporean kid does not want to perform, participate or somehow get involved in the National Day Parade? It's such a big thing every year and many gather to put up a celebration for the nation.

Flashback to when I was very young. Think I was in kindergarden or lower primary when I went to the old National Stadium at Kallang to watch the Parade. I loved the atmosphere and I can still remember how it was like being there.
Then my nanny and her daughter, who are Soka members got involved in the performances and they always talk about how fun it was although it was tiring, hot, take up a lot of time, etc... However, all the "pains" they went through were worth it because not everyone has a chance to take part that often.

Then one year, my primary school was "invited" to take part in the parade. Those who wanted to join were given consent forms to sign. I brought the consent form home and my mum refused to sign it. She said it was troublesome fetching me to and fro and yadah yadah, all sorts of blardi reasons... Dateline to hand in the consent forms was up and I did not submit the consent form. I told my teacher about it and she said that it's ok and when my mum decide to sign, I could be part of it.
However, the response was overwhelming. When my mum finally signed the consent form, I was a reserve. There was enough people already. The same teacher told me that I could learn the song first and if anything cocks up, I can still be part of the performance. I waited and waited till National Day itself and I was not part of the Parade.
As I watched the performance on TV, I sang the song as loud as I could. My parents were saying "how come I know the song", "wah, performance nice", "song nice", "so many people", and then "eh, Raffles Girls Primary School" and I said, "if you sign the consent form earlier, I'm there singing now", pointing at the screen at the same time, at my schoolmate, and went back to my room to cry...

Will This Be The Next Holland Village?

Judging by how it looks right now, it's really really really hard to tell... The eateries are all not open yet, except for one, and renovation works are still going on. But I'm really excited!!! Next time I can jio my friends down to hang out here, rather than in town. Haha...

A newspaper report touted this area as the next Holland Village when it reported that this area was one of the sites selected for the pilot batch of Restructuring Programme for Shops scheme. This area I'm talking about is Sunset Way. And this stretch of eateries is just 5 mins walk away from my house.
Choosing to dine in air-conditioned comfort or al-fresco is easy. Choosing which one to dine in is hard. As I walked around, and judging by the interiors, I know I would be spoilt for choice.

First, I saw a eatery that threw big hints that it was a Hong-Kong cafe. Hmm, maybe not just big hints, but the name of the cafe says it all... As I walked further down, my eyes gleamed...
I know the reflection damn jialat, but can you make out that greenish thing over there is a pool table??? Hehe... And, the pool table is in the same shop space as this!
With the 3 labelled "prominent" parts of this shop space, no need to say, I think we all know what it is gonna be liao lah...

Further down, these are still doing their signages. I suspect the one on the left has someting to do with Kobe beef because I saw a "Kobe beef" signage yesterday on one of the tables.
Then I passed by a shop selling stuff from New Zealand like wine, snacks, ice cream, etc...

As I passed by the next one, I remembered talking to my mum a few days back about how to fit 8 people into a small table during next year's CNY steamboat, now that all of us got other "halves". Now, I have a solution...
Charcoal BBQ and steamboat buffet... Hehe

RE: Singaporeans Are Doughnut Idiots!

Warning/ Disclaimer: This post AGAIN would be offensive to some. If you are offended, I hereby apologise first. I mean no harm and I'm just a teeny weeny gal (I'm damn small built k?) who wana voice out her love for good doughnuts and hate for the inferior ones.

8Days hot on my heels! 8Days copied my article? Haha... Right after my post on Sunday regarding about doughnuts/ donuts, 8Days did their own review with this week's copy which went on sale on Monday. Talk about timing and coincidence sia… I didn't know about it till Daphne told me about it.
But, let me clarify matters first before I move on with what I have to say for the reply in regards to the donut post...
1) No lah, I don’t think 8Days copied me and I swear I did not know the editorial were coming up with this article...
2) I've been through a journalism module and I doubt that a magazine that publishes weekly comes up with deadlines for articles within a night.
Thus, it is a REAL coincidence.... Som-pah!!!

As you can see from the 1st 2 pages of the article, Pop Doh, the one I was talking about which is at B2 of Takashimaya has the highest score so far... I'm pleased and happy beacause they gave Pop Doh 4 "stars" out of 5 and thus admitting that whoever tried and tasted the doughnuts are not doughnut idiots because they know what a REAL doughnut taste like...
Though DD was given lesser than what Pop Doh has, follow nadnut's blog entry and all kinds of various rumors about the source of these donuts, and you can definately speculate why it did not receive as mush "stars" as it should.
One of them featured is new in town and if any follow all my previous entries, anyone will know I would not have the time to go try these donuts. Since they are given a score just as high as Pop Doh, maybe it's worth a try.
On the 3rd page, one was given the highest score. I kinda suspect those doughnuts avaliable in 7-11s are the same. Name same, logo same... Correct me if I'm wrong... If they are... Sigh... I shall not say more... Everyone's tastebuds are different and I don't wana risked getting flamed again just for speaking my tiny weeny 2 dollars worth...

Let me just say my point again, evaluating a doughnut is a 3-step process: icing and/or fillings only, doughnut only, and entire thing as a whole...
Was wondering how come they did not include the one at Clementi Central? Maybe it was opened after the article was set and sent to the printers...

Here's what I want to say with regards to the post on Sunday...
1) I've got a "fan"

Wat right do you have to call people idiots? It's definately up to individual tastes and preferences.Not everyone has the privilege to taste the different brands of donuts like you. But nothing gives you, you young punk to call people idiots. You are rude.

Clarifications about the post...
I did forewarn the post was offensive and I sincerely apologise to anyone who had taken offense. I had queued at these long lines and found that I had wasted time and money on doughnuts I feel inferior as they are not up to my expectations. I just wanted to voice out my thoughts about the whole doughnut madness which I think is going a bit out of hand. My stand is, for $1-$2 a piece, I would not spend on what I taste as bread on what it claims to be a doughnut.
This whole craze now is like the bubble tea, portugese egg tart, cinnamon bun, coffee bun, etc, thingy. The really good ones have been around for quite some time. Some others come in because they see that it is good business, it becomes a fad for no apparent reason and pop, the bubble burst. When the bubble burst, the good ones go as well because they are forced out of business by the huge majority of market share taken by the not so good ones as there were so blardi many of them in the market. I guess it's human nature, we all like fresh and new ideas and stuff... And businessmen are clever...
I'm not a young punk. A young punk would not even have a chance to eat DD locally when it was still at Far East Plaza. A young punk would not remember spending $6 on a cup of really good frothy bubble tea at Wisma Atria.

Singaporeans Are Doughnut Idiots!

What I’m gonna say here would be offensive to some, but it’s just my 2 dollars worth on the doughnut madness happening in Singapore now...

I’ve heard so many people say that these doughnuts are good and there are various articles and reviews saying that these are good. Snake-like queues all happening at some many different doughnut outlets, even the new one at Clementi central. Hmm, good referring to the icings and fillings or just the doughnut itself? The icings and fillings are overwhelmingly sweet and the tasteless doughnut is needed to neutralize the sweetness. That’s not how a REAL doughnut is like!!! Have these people eaten a Dunkin Donut or a Krispy Kreme before? I’m not gonna use a KK to compare as I had not eaten KK before. So I’m gonna use a DD to compare…

Just to clarify, I’m not being sour grapes here, I’ve personally queued and tried the doughnuts and all nevertheless disappointed me. It’s the doughnut that disappoints…
1) They lack the buttery taste and the “oomph” that a doughnut should have.
2) They taste like bread, feel like bread, even the texture when eaten is like bread. A REAL doughnut should be soft, but not that soft!!!
3) When eaten plain, without the icing and fillings, they are tasteless…
4) You have to chew these doughnuts, they do not melt in your mouth.
5) The fillings and icings overpower the actual doughnut.
A DD when eaten plain is NOT tasteless. Ok, you don’t have to literally eat a DD, because the moment you put it in your mouth, it melts. Your whole mouth would be filled with the buttery taste and doughnut “oomph” when it melts. When you bite it, it’s not soft, yet not hard. Although their fillings and icings are great too, they do not overpower the actual doughnut and you still can taste the buttery-ness and “oomph”.

The doughnut that closely matches my expectations and definition of doughnuts sold locally is the one at Takashimaya B2, at the corner, surrounded by cakes and ice cream. These doughnuts melt in your mouth, oozing the buttery-ness and “oomph” a doughnut should have. With or without icings or fillings, these doughnuts taste superb, and neither the icings nor fillings overpower the actual doughnut. The only thing they might need to work on, is the softness of the doughnut.

Right now, you can order DD online. I have not tried it yet, but will do so one day. The website used to “blatantly” say they are DD, but now, only a small picture at the bottom right hand corner rotates to show its DD. Dear and I used to speculate that either they order the doughnuts from JB and bring over or they hold the franchise rights. Anyone any idea?

Now, I have a craving for doughnuts... I want my DD!!! Argh, Dad went JB the other day, never buy DD back...

Love Hate Relationship With Alex Rodriguez

When Alex Rodriguez, more affectionately known as A-Rod, was playing for Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers, I knew he was a great player. However, he was not a Yankee, so I kinda like "didn't bother". Whenever he plays against Yankees, I kinda hope he would fall, break a leg, get K-ed (striked out), or something... You can say I'm biased and I admit it because when he moved over to New York, he became my 2nd favorite player after Derek Jeter, captain and shortstop of the Yankees.

Bottom of 1st inning with 1 down, Jeter comes up, gets a basehit. So does Bobby Abreu. A-rod comes up. With his first swing of the day, he lifts the ball up, up and away into the left field fair territory. The ball goes over the wall and A-rod becomes the youngest player to reach 500 homeruns!!! As he makes his way round the bases home, the crowd goes wild. And my darling Jeter is the first player to receive him at the homeplate.

Now, 2am... I'm faced with a dilema... Should I watch my darling Chris Eagles play against Inter Milan now or catch the other repeat telecasts later? Or should I watch my other darlings, Jeter and A-rod?

See the pics for yourself!!! I was even on top of BBC news! I was looking at my stats and found that there were people coming into my blog for Rhaine Davis through various search terms. I was wondering how come Rhaine Davis would be linked to my blog and tried myself by seaching on google the search terms these people had used. These 2 were using search terms "rhaine davis soccer" and "rhaine davis soccer player".






However, there was one search term I was 4th-placed...

But anyhow, I'm so proud of myself!!! Hehe...

Soccer Pre-Season Rantings...

$10 increase to my cable tv subscription in exchange for 3 more channels. Worth it? Well, subscribing to MUTV online cost 40 pounds per annum, about $10 per month. Judging by this equation, it's definately worth it. Although this is not the first time the pricing of the sports package has increased, I need my "live" soccer matches. A bit relunctant about the $10 increase monthly, but it sounds good enough for me. Especially so when the 3 channels are "activated" already!!!
When I got home just now, I was talking to my dad about the "extra" channels; if they are self-activated or if we would need to call up to activate them. A few hours later, I was checking cable tv program listings and schedules online and was browsing through channel 107, Goal TV 1. I saw "Pre-season MU Match (Doncaster vs United) 3/8/2007 (Live) 02:00 AM - 05:00 AM". The time then was 2.25am already. I quickly jumped out of my chair, ran to the living room and switch on the TV to try if I'm able to view the channel. Right now, I'm happily watching...

I'm still sadden by the news of Rossi moving over to Villarreal. If only the transfer was held back just a little while... Because, news has just been confirmed that Smith is moving over to Newcastle. If it was held back just that little while, maybe Rossi did not have to go... I want Rossi!!!
So in place of my dear Rossi, comes Tevez. About half a day back, Tevez has already undergone medical according to the news at goal.com. Tevez is a really good player, and I'm sure if he can fit into Man Utd's squad and playing style, he would definately knock Saha further down the pecking order. But I still want my Rossi...

My darling Chris Eagles started against the friendly against Inter Milan!!! Yipee!!! Eagles started against Inter Milan!!! Inter Milan leh!!! K, it might just be a friendly, but anyhow, it's still Inter Milan!!! Did anyone listened at all when I said he is a promising talented youngster?! Nothing can really express my joy...
Another reason I'm so happy is that Man Utd lost to Inter, and the main culprit for the loss according to reports was Evra! Haha!!! That means my Heinze has chance to grab back his 1st-team position? Hehe... I'm gloating at the though of it! Hands off! My "baked beans" not for sale!!! Sigh, but there is still speculation that Heinze might move to Juventus after all... I hope not...

Rhaine Davis, the 9-year-old prodigy has signed with Man Utd's academy. Back in mid-July, Man Utd has already offered this little boy to come for trials and now has decided to sign him. This little boy has an English passport and moved over to Australia a few years back. According to reports circulating on the Internet now and which version you may choose to believe in, the actual fact was that his English grandfather received a DVD from the boy's parents and submitted a copy to Man Utd. This DVD is somewhat like a "update" on how the family is doing in Australia and the grandfather, amazed at his grandson's soccer skills, decided to submit a copy in to Man Utd.

I just don't understand how stupid, inconsiderate and gross-out people can be! Have they spared a thought for the cleaners?! This was sighted at Holland Village's taxi stand yesterday afternoon outside Cold Storage.

More Grumbles

I confess! I haven't rant and KB enough about the increase of fares. Although it is not confirm confirmed yet, but I still cannot stand it!

Every year, so much profits are made. Profits go where? I guess almost everyone knows... I hate to be political. Yes, profits are good because it helps in the economy of the country. However, going by recent reports, the stock market is falling... And when the stock market falls, what happens to the economy? So, still increase fares when everyone's pay packet still the some or worse still, newly graduated working adults may have to face a lower first pay.
Capitalism, the rich get richer, poor get poorer. But for the benefit of the economy, we have to increase fares to help companies increase profit? Like what I had said 2 entries back, maybe a trip on the MRT from Boon Lay to Pasir Ris would cost as much as a plate of chicken rice. Hmm, how about using the present to compare? Some trips already cost more than $2!!! Me no understand...

Ok, so now a new taxi operator joins in the competition and says fares will be "slightly cheaper" (read my last entry if you haven't). We shall wait and see if fares will indeed be slightly cheaper. Even so, how long will these fares sustain? Will this taxi operator end up "copying" the fares of the companies who "monopolize" the market. Anyway, how many cabs is this new operator gonna put on the road? If it is like 20K (current taxi fleet is about 23K in Singapore), maybe it would affect the other taxi companies to "review' their pricing, but if it is a few hundred, I doubt so... Somemore, now everyone choose cabs mah. Who rushing for time will choose cabs one? In the first place, who not rushing for time will take a cab?

How about doing a MLK Jr style boycott of the transportation? I doubt so... We are so dependent on the transport in Singapore already.
Sigh, GST up, transport fares gonna be up... We need a pay increase too. But stock market falling, economy no good, cannot?! Ah!!!

New Taxi Operator Equals Cheaper Fares?

CNA reports that a new taxi company will be joining into the competition. So far, any new taxi companies that emerged, all "copy" the "price list" set by the companies that has already almost "monopolize" the market. As the newer fleet with a higher flag down flag replaces the older fleet, once the older fleet "disappears", we pay a higher flag down fare without much complaints due to the "training" we are receiving now for the higher flag downs. In time to come, the "pinch" isn't that painful as compared to outright announcing the increase in flag down fares.

However, according to the interview given by the owner of the new taxi operator to asiaone business, he says his fares will be "slightly cheaper". Also, this new fleet will be "greener", running on CNG (natural gas).

Sounds good... Wait till we see it...

Transport Fares To Go Up Again!?

Eh hello, every year, these transport companies make freaking huge profits and they still want some more!!! Kaoz! I think in due time, a trip from Boon Lay to Pasir Ris or Changi Airport on the MRT would cost as much as a plate of chicken rice. Sigh... Even canteen food is cheaper than transportation...
I know it can't be helped since oil is getting more expensive and petrol and diesel comes from oil. Hmm, I thought we have some buses and taxis running on CNG (natural gas) and they should be "cheaper" and "cleaner" for the environment?!

I heard from the 10pm news on MediaCorp Channel 8 that submissions are in to PTC for fare increases. According to Channel News Asia, one transport company said that they are "investing more in repair maintenance as well as replacing old buses with new ones to lower the average age of its fleet." Furthermore, drivers are also being sent for refresher courses. PTC's stringent standards were also thought to be partially the cause.
So I guess passing on the cost to the consumers means you are not contented with the freaking huge profits earned? Sigh, I really don't know...

WTF Is Sir Alex Ferguson Thinking About!

As a Man Utd fan, I'm sorry to say that Fergie is getting senile for his age. Selling Rossi to Villarreal?! Out of 6 strikers, Saha and Solskjaer are both currently injured, Anderson can't be confirmed for this Sunday's Community Shield yet, with Rooney, Smith, and Rossi. Rooney is a definate choice and .

Between Smith and Rossi, who should you sell? I would rather keep Rossi. (Well, anyway, Smith seems to be going too.) Rossi's only 20 years of age, young yet brimming with talent. Maybe like what Dear has said, too much money has been spent, coupled with the "obsession" to get Tevez, players have to be sold to get back some money.

One more of my favorite players moving out of Man Utd... Sigh...
