After 8 FUCKING LONG Years...

坚持是对的,改变是对的,爱唱歌是对的!(Loosely translated: Persevering is right, change is right, love singing is right!)

I can't agree more. 8 years is too fucking long a drought. 8 years of nominations and not getting anything is just too much to bear for me. For 8 years, I see her clapping her hands and cheering for others, but I feel as though my heart's being stabbed.

There was a year when almost everyone thought she was a shoo-in for Best Mandarin Female Vocalist. To the point where when the nominees are all announced and the award presenter was delivering the "the-winner-is" part of the announcement, some were pointing at her and her fellow nominees for the same category were looking at her. But she did not get it.

Last year, she finally managed to do her own thing. Producing, writing, choosing, singing and dealing in every single aspect, she showed us the inner-most side of her and the real her - a little emo, a little wild, a little rocker, a little ah lian in-a-way. Being a fan for 14 years, I think that this is her best album of date. Imagine my joy when I found out that the album had 10 nominations in the Mandarin categories : Best Song of The Year, Best Album, Best Music Video, Best Composer, Best Lyricist (2 nominations for this), Best Arrangement, Best Female Vocalist, Best Producer and Best Album Packaging.

For 8 years, I shed tears, tears of sadness. Today, these tears were of tears of joy! To me, these belated birthday pressies will be the most treasured. The album scored the following wins: Best Song of The Year, Best Album, Best Lyricist, Best Arrangement, Best Female Vocalist and Best Producer.

My beloved Zhang Hui Mei 張惠妹 aka A*Mei 阿妹 aka A-Mit 阿密特, your hard work and effort finally paid off! 坚持是对的,改变是对的,爱唱歌是对的!!!!!!!!!

Nicholas Zhang Dong Liang 张栋梁 Autograph Session @ The Heeren

One of my posts that had been sitting realllllly long in the drafts. Couldn't really get to sleep the other nite, so decided to finish a bit of it... Finally, this is done! hahaha...

Since young, I've been to quite a few autograph sessions to ogle at my favourite artistes in flesh. I've always been at the receiving end of it, getting my CDs signed, say a quick hello, shake hand, or even hug these artistes. And most of the times, I'm the one getting fustrated with the organizers for not doing this and that.

But on July 11th, I got to experience what was it like to be on the other side of the fence. Not every single little teeny weeny detail would go according to what you planned or what you had imagined it to be. Thank God for his blessings and grace!

Also would like to thank these people for giving me such a brilliant on-the-job experience textbook can't teach!
- I had help from an experienced marketing team at The Heeren who have dealt with such events before. They were brilliant and were such a great help, helping out in all small little nitty gritty details so the event could be carried out smoothly. Thank You!
- I had help from a security team, which acted really fast, did up barricades in such a short time, did a great job at crowd control, and acted as past of a human wall when needed... Thank You!
- The fans were brilliant and so cooperative that I wish I will face such fans in future for all other events! An event had ended earlier, but before the stage could be barricaded, they had swamped round the stage. But they were damn nice lah! I told them I needed about 45 minutes to set up the area for the autograph session and needed them to not crowd the stage meanwhile. Within 5 minutes, some left, some hanged around nearby but no longer directly in front of the stage and cleared that much needed space for set up to be done. So sweet rite? Thank You!
- Last but not least, of cos, Thank You Warner for letting us play a part in this album's promotions.
- And of cos, my boss... Thank You for giving me such a chance. It was crazily busy, but I really enjoyed the experience and the learning process of putting together such an event.

Talk so much, some of you might be wondering how Nicholas Zhang Dong Liang 张栋梁 is really like in person right? Truth to be told, I did not have the chance to interact with him much, cos I was working on site, rather than chatting with him.
But during those few sparse minutes I managed to see him, I can tell he is a very nice, warm, down-to-earth, friendly person. Definitely not your diva-ish kinda celebrity! He's TALL, according to me, someone who is pretty vertically challenged, he might be probably about 180+cm. Hello, that's TALL for me lah!
And before I say the next comment, let me just set a disclaimer... Different people for different taste ok? He's actually quite good-looking, quite cute, quite suave, the type that would make girls melt and weak at the knees and/or the type which mums would like their daughters to bring home... But not exactly my type in the looks department, I still think my fave guy celebs rank higher.... Dun hate me, we just have different taste! *runs*

October 4th Was Happening!

This is a damn back dated post which was sitting in the drafts for a little more than 5 months. Haven't had time to properly blog about it till recently...

This day in 2008 is a very special day for me. It marked the end of a stage in my life and it was also a day where I met up with some friends whom I see about once or twice a year and get to scream my lungs out. It was the day of my graduation ceremony and A*Mei was in town for her concert. However, I was kinda afraid I would have to skip one initially.
I had already bought a ticket for A*Mei's concert, then, came the news that the ceremony would be held on a Saturday in October. I was so hoping that the dates and times would not clash! Thank God they did not.

On that day, a few hundreds of us gathered at Ritz Carlton. We had to arrive much earlier than our guests for a ceremony briefing and rehearsal. After that, a few of us went to Pasta de Waraku at Marina Square for lunch. After lunch, we were back at the hotel to robe for the ceremony.

After the ceremony, there was a high tea buffet spread, but it was considered dinner for me. Some of my friends hung out later, but I was having a fabulous time at the Indoor Stadium.
A*Mei as usual was always teasing the crowd. I remember there was one moment where she was talking about her taking part in a musical in Japan, where she played a queen. My friend beside me let out a cheer. She turned over to us and asked teasingly, "皇后有设么好叫的 (what's there to cheer for when i said queen)?" and a few of us started cheering. She then paused for a second or 2, looked at us and said "皇后 (queen)", and our whole group of us starting cheering. She laughed and gave a signal to stop, like how an orchestra consuctor signals a stop by closing his/her palm. She then paused for a second or 2, still looking at us and said "皇后 (queen)". This time round, the entire stadium roared.
Besides singing her own songs, she also sang Stefanie Sun's 天黑黑 and Alicia Key's If I Ain't Got You, which was damn damn good!
Can't wait for the next time she comes to Singapore... I'm missing my diva already...

I Ran My Hands All Over Marc Jacobs

I fell in love with Marc Jacobs even since seeing a pair of his heels on 美丽伊能界 (mei li yi neng jie), a "women" info-entertainment prorgam hosted by Annie 伊能静 (Yi Neng Jing - Harlem Yu Cheng Ching's wife) talking about beauty, fashion and stuff. Ever since, everything about Marc Jacobs became a dream. And it didn't help me at all that he is Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton. From "I would love to" to "I die die want", putting 2 favorites together is almost like a deadly sin, and the dream became an obsession.

A few months back, a friend of mine told me that she saw a Marc by Marc Jacobs boutique in Ngee Ann City. Never in my wildest dream that I would be able to get his stuff in Singapore so soon! Everytime I pass by Orchard, somehow, I would not be able to pass by to take a look.

Today, I finally did. They are having a sale which is good news but too bad because I'm kinda broke. As I proceed toward the entrance of the boutique, I kinda felt high. As I entered, Iran out of breath, almost wanted to fall onto my knees and kiss the floor, screaming, "My Marc Jacbos!!!" Of course my senses told me I couldn't do so because everyone in the store would think I'm mad, like some kinda swa ku who has never seen a Marc Jacobs boutique before.

Pricing is very close to another of my favorite brands, DKNY. But too bad, no money means I can only look around. Pengz, I think I nearly orgasmed (not literally lah!) running my hands thru the collection. I saw a top, a dress, a bag that I really liked. Hmm, nope, make that a top, 2 dresses and a bag. But then again, make that 2 tops, 2 dresses and a bag. Argh, I could go on forever!!!

Miss Hong Kong 2007

What are beauty pageants about? Beauty? Poise? Elegance? Intelligence? I really don't know... Every year, many take part in Miss Hong Kong, as this pageant is a good stepping stone into the entertainment industry. Many past finalists in Miss Hong Kong have now become A-list actresses in Hong Kong and have fans outside of Hong Kong.

Here is a picture of all the finalists this year on TVB's webby.
Contestant no. 3 is the winner. Contestant no. 9 is the first runner-up. Contestant no. 7 is the 2nd runner-up. Honestly, I would not consider all 3 having "winner" looks. Not being biased, even my favorite TVB actresses, Myolie Wu Hang Yee and Charmaine Sheh Sze Man, who were runner-ups in their respective Miss Hong Kong pageants are prettier than this year's top 3!

Don't tell me it's a repeat of the 1993 Miss Hong Kong pageant. It was rumored that TVB had already targetted to sign finalist Kenix Kwok Ho Ying, who was a hot favorite, and wanted her to act almost immediately. Thus, they "prevented" her from winning so she need not travel overseas and "fulfil her obligations" byt taking part in pageants overseas. If it's is really true, maybe the "hot favorite" for this year, contestant no. 2 will receive news from TVB soon...

Just my speculation...

A Fairy Has Left Us...

Though I'm not a big fan of hers, she has always touched me with her warm smiles, quiet beauty and innocence. Over the weekend, Taiwanese actress, Xu Weilun, had met with an accident on the expressway on her way to a filming location. After struggling for more than a day in the hospital, she reluctunly gave in, shedding tears and having an increased heartbeat whenever she heard people calling her name while in coma.

My first reaction was, why her? Why not that bitch? That bitch I was refering to, was another Taiwanese actress who look a bit like her, but she's a big flirt and a two-timer. Though she looked like Weilun, she's damn ugly, mayb her heart's ugly that's why...

Since Monday, there were reports everywhere. When I watch them on tv, be it a newscast or through an entertainment news program clipping, be it only less then a minute or more than that, my eyes would swell up with tears. Local newspapers also carried reports and there were reports online too. Each and everyone of it definately brought tears to my eyes...

Most heartwrenching and heartbreaking of all was being reminded of another accident, one that also happened on the expressway years ago. It seemed so familiar, accident on the expressway, sent to hospital, fell into coma, swelling of the brain, internal bleeding... Then, he had just released his album and was deemed to be the best, compared to his past albums. But, before he could enjoy the success of his best album so far, he too, reluctunly, gave up the fight days later. He was my fave singer, A*Mei's mentor, Zhang Yu Sheng...

Record Breaking Day

It happened just a few days back, on Monday. It was considered record breaking in terms of number of celebrities/ known personalities I've seen in a day at the store.
First came Jean Danker. Then came Kym Ng (who is damn super friendly and no airs). Then came Dick Lee. Then came Vernetta Lopez.

Others I've seen so far within my 7 months of working at the store are Adrian Pang, Cynthia Koh, Felicia Chin, Fiona Xie, Utt, Dan Richmond (Mark Richmond's bro), Kelly Poon, Cheryl Fox, Jonathan Leong, Paul Twohill, Bryan Wong (or issit Brian, tt Star Idol winner), some SuperHost contestant, some Bollywood star (whom I din recognise till my visuals colleagues told me), a few SuperBand contestants n one of the Lee bros (dunno if its Wei Song or Si Song).

Others I've heard that shopped but I did not get to c them are Sun Yan Zi n some other Bollywood stars.

Some days are really fun, esp when u get to c these pple. So when will I get to c Ayumi Hamasaki, A*Mei, Jay Chou, Xiao Zhu, Kyoko Fukada, Goto Maki, FIR or Janice at the store?

Now I Remembered What I Wanted To Blog About

Someone made my blood boil last Friday when I was on duty at Promo. A choronology of what happened.

We were streaming the HMV radio from HK and Janice's MTV came up.
While I was enjoying the sweet voice singing while clearing the queue of customers who are paying up, I overheard this guy commenting to his girlfriend something like, "not bad, don't know who is she".
So I replied, "Oh, she is Janice Wei Lan. She's very popular in Hong Kong now."
Guy asked, "Janice ah?"
I replied, "Yah!" and he nodded his head and smiled to himself.
The girlfriend then said, "Quite normal what."
I almost wanted to take off my uniform, walk out of the counter and slap her. But I thought, too much hassle, why don't I just reach over and slap her.
Then upon hearing the guy said, "Quite nice mah", my blood tempreture then came down.

In my heart I was thinking that after I had slapped her, I would asked her to look into the mirror and see if she was 1% as pretty as Janice. Since she thinks Janice's voice is "quite normal what" and thinks so highly of herself and that her voice is better, go join Hong Kong's EEG, Singapore's Superstar or Idol or other big singing competitions lah.

Before commenting on others, look and compare to yourself 1st. Especially when you are commenting on a voice that has won various singing competitions in Hong Kong and various Best Newcomer awards the past year.

F*** off biatch! Thinking of that now still make my blood boil...... Especially that f***ed up haughty, arrogant and sour face. Jealous that your boyfriend comment that someone's voice is nice never say yours nice, say lah! No need to say this kinda comments one...

Things...

I really don't know what I want to write or type about, so bear with me while I blabber away...

- I'm going to write/ type properly. No "SMS-wordings".
- I can't get to sleep. Don't know if it's because of the teh-peng I had just now.
- I still think having cancer is more fortunate than having that particular muscular disease. Either I die or get cured. That, is just, die...
- I'm in a depressed mood. I just feel like crying and I just don't know why. This is the XXth time it's happening and I'll just blame it on the monthly "relative" visit.
- More than half of my MSN contacts are perpetually offline. I don't know if they just don't come online at all or they just don't switch on their MSN. Maybe they do come online, at the office during office hours, but some companies don't allow MSN-ing in the office. Having checked their personal email and surfing or doing whatever they need to do in the office, they need not even go online when they get home.
- Every working environment has its pros and cons. Take some, lose some. Ah, my dear colleagues of mine, if you're reading this, you can guess what I mean... If not, ask me at work lah. - There's this particular makan review of mine that I have not blogged yet. Will do it... Soon? Hopefully?
- For almost 2 months, I told myself to update my profile here and on Friendster. Finally been able to do it just now, because I can't get to sleep.
- Ruben Studdard's 3rd album, Return, has loads of fast-paced songs. Slower the better mah, can showcase his vocals. Tunes are catchy, but don't do much justice to his vocals. In case you're wondering if there was a 2nd album, there was, but it was a gospel album, thus not that "commercial".
- American Idol 2006: Kellie Pickler is officially the first alumni to release an album after the contest. (read: album, not single). Her album was released end of last month, so who's next? I've not heard it yet because the only copy in the store is a US import copy, slightly expensive so not within my budget to buy. (ok, I admit, I love Ruben Studdard, Kimberly Caldwell, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Kellie Pickler, Chris Daughtry from the American Idol franchise)
- I really fucking hate my fucking stinko breath. I can even smell it myself! Dr Khor calls this dried mucus thingy a "scab". So when can I fucking stop having this fucking stinko scab thingy?! It was so damn fucking bad that it smelt like fucking gross vomit the other day.
- At last, I yawned... K, a few more yawns and I'm ready for bed...
- I am still having a damn cold. Had a throbbing headache on the 3rd and when I woke up the next day, I was having a runny nose. Due to this stupid headache, I missed a friend's birthday party! Succumbed to fever finally on the 6th and got an MC. Till now, I'm still having the blardi runny nose. (Maybe my nose training for a marathon)
- 2nd yawn. K... Not so bad...
- 3rd one... K... But I still don't feel sleepy. 0313hrs, and I'm still typing away... I'm supposed to wake up at 0730hrs...
- 4th time I've yawned so far.
- EEKS! I smelt it! My breath stinks! Argh!
- England drew 1-1 with Holland in a friendly yesterday. Becks gave up the captain's armband after the World Cup a few months back. Till now, he has not been called up to the England squad...
- I just farted, and even my fart stinks! But I think my breath stinks more...
- I thought Myolie Wu would have won this year's TVB's Best Actress and/or Most Favourite Female Role. These 2 awards went to Charmaine Sheh instead, which is another of my favourite TVB actress. However, between the 2, I still would choose Myolie Wu.
- Yawned for the 5th time...
- 6 cartons of Jap stocks coming in. As of 1930hrs just now, none of it came in yet. Hopefully all very easy to rack...
- Before classes begin, our lecturers would always want us to read up our textbook. I was reading it on the bus to and from work. It's definately very boring to me. Politics, Economics and the Future of America, I wonder if I can even pass this module.
- In about 2 weeks time, I should be able to check online for my Advanced News Gathering and Writing results. Will my GPA stay or drop? I've got this stupid hunch that it would drop. Whatever! Stay tuned for results.
- Dear's JC friend, is getting married next Saturday. I had always thought I would only get to meet his girlfriend, or rather, would-be-wife, on the wedding day itself. It's just somehow me and her didn't managed to get to meet before. It was such a coincidence that they were shopping at HMV and I was working on that day. It was really nice spending that few minutes talking to the bride. Hehe... Oh, it happened on that day when I had the big headache.
- Actually not only 3 things happened on that "headache" day. Of couse besides having a headache, meeting the bride and groom and missing a friend's birthday, I also picked up a called from a customer who dropped his card. He called to check if he had dropped it in the store or somewhere else. Luckily, Security helped settled the matter.
- 6th yawn of the night.
- I'm getting better at spicy food. The spiciness level is getting higher and higher. Yay! I want to get back to the "standard" where I use french fries as a dip, rather than using the chilli sauce as a dip. ~Slurp~ Oh! And at least 3 packets of chilli sauce for a burger! Haha... As of June, it was less than half a packet. Now, it's three-quarters of a packet. Ganbatei!

Maybe I should try to sleep now... Yawn...

Feel Like Doing Nail Art

As promised, here i present my bday pressie from my MDIS classmates! tada!

oh, by the way, a certain hotel heiress' new song's mv is the most tasteless mv i've ever seen. clad in a bikini n a dress which she keeps pulling up to show her skinny shapeless legs, it has no relation in any way to the lyrics of her song. OMG... simply cannot make it! mayb the director is trying to recreate the infamous video? i've simply no idea...

Mood: simply what the title says...

Fruit cake, Chicken Little, shopping, Man U disappoints...

lazy lazy me will equate to a long long quite/very long entry...

Sunday: woke up late. then got my dad to drive me to the supermarket to get some ingredients for baking a xmas fruit cake minus the alcohol. whn i came back, i started to chop the cherries, walnuts and apricots. by the time i finish, it was already dinner time. so dinner first thn bake cake! cake took a total of 4+ hours to finish baking including preparation. by the time we finished it was already abt 12 midnight.
the cake turned out not bad. it had the taste and oomph of a fruit cake, but all fruits sinked to the bottom! i reckon the batter was not heavy enough, thus must add a bit more flour. the top of the cake was also very very dry. so either must add more apple juice or cut down baking timing...

Monday: dear took leave again. but it was a bad day. not as happy as the other days dear took leave to accompany me. we left the house to have lunch at food republic. all was fine till we reached food republic about 1pm...
i wanted to try the noodles at one of the restaurants there. it was the chinese restaurant n i was quite gian on the soy sauce chicken noodle. since there wasn't any seats in the "common" area, we decided to sit in the restaurant itself n dear would get somthing from the restaurant. as we enter, we simply sat down n i went to get my food first while dear remained in out seats to reserve the place. i ordered hor fun instead, got my food, carried my tray n made my way back to the seat. on the way back, i saw the lady captain ushering dear to another seat saying the place we were occupying was actually for a place for 4. n after we shifted seats, she started to place towels n our tables and said it was complusory for these and drinks. at this point, dear asked if there was service charge, i knew what he was thinking... cos i was thinking the same too.
when we entered the restaurant n sat down, NO ONE bothered to come and serve us, asking how many people, blah blah like how normally restaurants would. i bought the food n carried the tray MYSELF, even after being ushered to new seats. NO ONE bothered to carry the tray for me. after sitting down, no apologies nothing, just shoved us the towels n drinks. if i wasn't hungry almost to the gastric extent, i would have gave the tray to the lady captain n walked off with me dear.
so since there was no service charge, i n dear open one eye closed one eye. dear started to order his duck noodles and a dumpling soup for us to share. that's when dear got a bit pissed. i was pissed too, but had to act nothing, cannot add fuel to fire... hehe... i'm a very very slow eater, exteremely slow. i can be the first to start eating but the last to finish. i took at least 25 minutes to finish my plate of noodles. when i was having my last few bites, dear's food came... my goodness...
dear refused to accept the food, making the manager to bring back to the kitchen. in the end, we did not use the towels too and the manager took them back. in the end, we were only charged for the drinks.
we made our way to cineleisure to collect the tickets n walked around to find a place for dear to eat. i got distracted by zhuan zhuan again... this time round, it was chicken little. there were 2 machines, one on 3rd floor which was empty, one at basement was could not accept any coins. by the time we settled down at the sushi place in cineleisure, it was already 2pm. it was such a coincidence that Jen was there with her frd too, and were seated opposite us with the converyer belt in between. the movie was at 2.30. so dear quickly ordered udon, a handroll and tempura. while waiting for his orders to come, i mouth itchy, n grabbed 2 plates to eat. chatted a bit with Jen too. we waited n waited till 2.25... no sign of food. so we got the pple to count the 2 miserable plates n got out fast. suggested we get popcorn or nachos or something, but dear said he was not hungry. i bought drinks while dear we to the toilet. when we entered the cinema, it was already pitch black. less than 5 trailers later, the movie started showing...
so excited to watch the movie! so excited to c chicken little! soooooo cute! the movie wasnt as good as the chicken itself. basically i only enjoyed watching the cute fella, not watching the movie. the incredibles was better... after the movie, i bought LJS shrimps and fries and we made our way home. dear went home for dinner only coming over again to look for his newspapers.

Tuesday: went walk walk with my sis. first stop, cineleisure, main focus, to zhuan zhuan for chicken little! haha... but we had lunch first. i had chicken chop spaghetti. a bit regret, chould have asked for the rice instead. anyway, after lunch, tried to zhuan zhuan again, but the 2 machines still out of order. my sis tried for other stuff as well.
next stop, plaza singapura to look at mickey mouse tees and to check with starhub regarding the free tv giveaway... on the way, we stopped at OG orchard point to buy snacks! at plaza sing, no nice tees, so din buy anything. but mouth itchy, bought a box of double cheese takopachi and share with my sis. yummy! loads of bacon wrapped in flourball! loads of cheese too! but i think they accidently switch off the power for the heater for the cheese cos the cheese was cold n lumpy...
then we made out way to suntec. also to zhuan zhuan. we at last got out chicken littles and other charmy kitties and my melody handphone accessories. we spent about 45 bucks, damn our luck was bad... bought a scoop of ben n jerry's coffee ice cream which was so yummy yummy and crossed the road to milenia walk to candy empire. there, i got a box of chocolates for my thai ex-colleauges and proceeded to our next stop, marina square.
at marina we shopped ard, walked ard. i bought a t-shirt and a keychain that had a glove, baseball and bat on it. then we sat down to wait for our parents to join us for dinner. i had a cup of tea while my sis looked thru her zhuan zhuans... when my parents came, we had dinner at sakae sushi. Dunno if its just for marina square outlet, but its quality has gone up. after dinner, i showed my mum a top i saw at esprit but she had no confidence of altering it, so did not buy in the end. thn i bought a pair of shoes too. by the time we reached home, it was already 9+.
after online for a while, watch tv, blah blah, i tried to take a nap to wake up to watch the chelsea liverpool match. but i cloudnt sleep so stayed up all the way. it was a boring 0-0 draw. thn i went to sleep... or rather nap... cos...

Wednesday: woke up late. too sleepy i guess. it was already 8.45 when i woke up. rushed to bath. just then, my sis woke up too n says she wana come along. by the time we left the house for the clinic, it was already 10. had to go clinic for blood test although it was rest week.
time spent at the clinic this time round was longer then usual cos the nurses were very bz. when i was walking ard, i realised why they were so bz cos it was almost full house, so many people have their chemos. after my bood test, as usual, my white blood cell count was low... so i was given a booster. went for lunch at food republic again... hehe... this time round i had economical rice. mum had yong tau foo n sis tried the kway chap. the kway chap was not bad but my economical rice was just the avg, the kind where u eat, but not comment cos there are no comments at all. the moment i drank my sis kway chap soup, i was like, "quite good leh", now tt's the difference...
after lunch, walked ard at isetan a bit thn walked over to the post office at taka to post the chocolates to thailand. after that, we made our way to the supermarket to get some stuff cos my mum wanted me to bake a cheesecake for her ex-colleagues. then mum went home on her own first while i n sis went to bugis to get her bag.
upon reaching home, i went straight into action. took out the cream cheese n butter to thaw. did the base and let it set in the fridge. measured the rest of the ingredients, blend blend, bake bake. timing was just nice, cheesecake done by dinner time. left to cool down at room temperature while having dinner. when grocery shopping was done in the afternoon with mum, i forgot abt the canned peaches and strawberries. so after dinner, i left the cheesecake in the fridge to chill n dad drove us out to buy. n of cos, since i was doing the shopping, we ended up with things not targetted for! haha... anyway, the strawberries were 15 bucks for a 250g pack and apprently from korea. not that we have a choice, they are the only strawberries avaliable.
upon reaching home, i started to place the fruits on top of the cheesecake. and while cutting the strawberries, i knew why they cost 15 bucks! they were so damn bloody sweet! i told my mum, from now onwards, we shall buy only 15 bucks strawberries and she laughed. within 5 minutes, the strawberries were in our stomachs. the usual strawberries would not be done in 5 minutes. maybe 3 days instead, cos we would only eat about 2 at a time, too sour...
stayed up again for the man u match. called dear to wake him up. damn disappointing. lost 2-1 to benfica, ended up last in the group and exited from the champions league. since man u placed last, cannot even quali for uefa. the most disappointing european competition from them since i supported them when i was in secondary 2, about a decade already... scholes put us ahead in the 6th minute, but we could not hold onto the lead... sigh sigh...

Thursday: quiet day today... continued with the cross stitch for my mum's frd while watching tvb serials. dun think i have ever mentioned abt tvb actress, myolie wu hang ee, hu xin er in chinese.
all along, i preferred to watch tvb cantonese dramas in cantonese not chinese but would never spent money renting or buying vcds or video tapes. then i started to like her after watching her act as a girl who's low in iq. from then now, i started to buy the vcds of the serials she's in n watch them in cantonese. usually these vcds are only avaliable after the serials starts showing on cable. so i would watch in chinese first on cable, then in cantonese on vcds. then finally the serial would be on a hong kong channel, tvbj on cable, and i would watch again... haha... its only after i started to like her, then i got crazy over the tvb serials vcds...

Piggy lips

Golden Melody Awards, the Asian equivalent of the Grammys was held on saturday... Jay was nominated for a few awards, but walked away empty handed... A*Mei was nominated for best female vocalist but lost to sun yanzi... Only FIR won best newcomer... my only consolation...

Since 25th Jul...

How should i start this entry... let's date back to 2 sundays ago, 25th Jul...

F.I.R was in town and had a gig at Hard Rock Cafe. It was the first time I'm seeing them n hearin them live. They are fantastic! fabulous! superb! They are like so perfect. One pretty n sweet, the other, cool, the other, drop dead good looking, my ideal guy type...
F=Faye: Pretty n sweet, with a great voice to boot. She has the ability to go solo anytime. She's like A*Mei, sounded betta live rather then cd (although both have diff singing styles) and has great stage presence. I've always tot there are 2 diff type of singers, the performer/ entertainer (read: "idol" type eg, Aaron Kwok in the past when he just started out) and the singer (read: only sing, do nothin else, eg Qi Yu, Cai Qin). Reason I like A*Mei is that she fall into both catergory, so does Faye. When she sang a verse of A*Mei's Lan Tian, she sang it sooo beautifully in her own way.
I=Ian: Lao Shi!!! The brains behind this band. Composer, producer, keyboardist. A*Mei's Lan Tian was done by him too. (tt's y Faye sang it at the gig) Damn cool! Was drooling at his coolness, given his age of 30+. haha... Gotta thank him for bringing them together, without him, there wouldn't be F.I.R.
R=Real aka Ah Qing. This is the drop dead good looker. Stupid photos I've seen of him in the press so far make him look fat n ugly. Mayb cos he has a kinda wide face cos of his jawline. when he smiles, he's cute. When he does not smile, he looks cool n suave. my ideal guy type lah, the kinda guy whose type of look can vary but still good looking lah... He's very very obliging. Call him, he turns n smiles, INTO your cam!!! Damn talented too. If he goes solo, he'll be hot property. he can sing! so wht if he's just a guitarist. He has the voice that really melts you... ahhhhh...
After the gig, it was the autograph session at West Mall. IDIOT warner staff, after I finish toking to lao shi n faye, can tok to ah qing already!!! but, this idiot, ask me how many cd sleeves i brought up thn hurry me off the stage!!! i haven even shook ah qing's hand nor tok to him!!! argh... tt's one disappointing part... another was, i have so many friends in NTU, but none could get tics for the gig at NTU... Q was too long and most had to rush for lessons, some din even bother to reply me!!! grr...

Last sunday, 1st, went for a malay wedding lunch buffet. it was Hamari's son's wedding. supposed to go down to SAJC to mit PJ for a church event, but my head was killing me, tearing me apart. Slept, from 3+, waking up several times for dunno wht reason. In my "blurness", i think i replied sms, drank water n pee-ed... hmm... waking up in the morning 6.30 and took a cab to work the next day...

Tuesday, went down to NP for training. Got schedules for IVP, so i can book my driving lessons accordingly. After training, i went home, din go eat, zzz... woke up to watch man u play psv. after tt, wnt to work as usual. after work, wnt to pick up my lenses, went home change shoe cos heel came off, a bit risky to wear them walking ard in town. wnt to mit him (him lah...) for SFS core screening of Brotherhood.

Review of Brotherhood: I liked it, but he din. was crying like hell. the plot was very pacy, thus whn the characters "grew" it seemed very fast n choppy. it also seemed like the director was trying to squeeze Band of Brothers into a 2 and a half hours movie. the cinematography was also very similar to BOB. but overall, its a good movie. teaches us one important thing, if u treasure the person close to you, nvr flare up or quarrel wif him/her. if there are misunderstandings, tok it out n clear it. cos u'll nvr know whether u'll c him/her again the nxt day, that's whn u'll regret...

Went for my first practical driving lesson today. need to work on my footwork n steering. i have bad road sense... :-(

I've been thinking a lot after the movie, dunno excately what, but it just links from one thing to another. in the end, i "settled" on 2 quotes that i've seen n heard...
"The furthest distance is that when I'm beside you, you don't even know it."
"Friends, I'd rather be. Lovers, I'd rather not. Cos lovers last for a while, while friends last forever."
With this, i'm tellin myself to be more hard hearted in love cos "friends" will definately last longer then "lovers"...

F.I.R, the Fairyland In Reality...

Listening to F.I.R's album, my sis bought it so i borrowed it from her. the entire album is making me cry. Every single song, yes every single one... I'm like being possessed. Every song is like telling me to buck up and move on, givin me strength. Been listening to them in the office for the past few days too, the entire day, putting the disc on repeat mode. repeating the songs non-stop. From Fly Away, Lydia, Liu Lang Zhe Zhi Ge, Wo Men De Ai, Guang Mang, Ni De Wei Xiao, Ta Luo Pai, Huo Le Yuan, Revolution to You Make Me Want To Fall In Love.

The first 5 are the "waking up", true-to-fact and strength giving songs... Ni De Wei Xiao is abt my feelings for Baby... Ta Luo Pai is giving a bit of strength telling me my future is how i wan it to be, not in control of others... Huo Le Yuan is abt my feelings of loss... Revolution is abt breaking free... Last one is almost like my final words, final comments, like a wrap up... Even the track layout is so tied into my feelings, my emotions.

mayb is the "rock" to it, i can shout out the lyrics and my fustrations and go hey-wire, shaking my head, jumping up and down with it. F.I.R, the Fairyland In Reality... I want that fairyland soon, i need to leave, far far away... very very far away... that way, that fairyland will become a reality...

Kor Kor...

Kor Kor died for excately one year as of today. yet, it only seemed like ystday. a chinese version of "zui" sang by yong bang played on the radio just now in the office. Trying so hard to fight back my tears. although i'm not a fanatic fan of his, i still missed him, his movies, his songs, his "zui". how i wished it was just an apr fools joke.

"kor kor, hoe dor zhong yi lei dek ya-en hoe gua ju lei. yeik nin le, lei hoe ma? kor kor, zou meh lei lum um hoi? zou meh yew lei hoi..."

Lost feeling... Last samurai... A*Mei...

I'm havin "the" lost feeling now... gog to breakdown sooner or later so i have to keep myself bz... so, here i am... Wana calll or sms to know wht he's doin but i know he's bz at a frd's place, therefore i dun wana disturb him. dun wana let him find me naggy or too "disturbing" least i get awoken from the new nice dream... so, here i am...

Caught The Last Samurai. Cried at the end of the film cos i was touched by the dignity, passion n strenght Katsumoto has. the scene now is still vividly playing in my mind... the drive he has to ride forward... the refusal to die at the end of his enemy... the enemy touched by his determination to b a samurai till his last breath, till they knelt n bow as katsumoto ended his life, the samurai way... it aso enriched my mind abt the different parts of the samurai ways. be it fully fictional or non-fictional, it did put some facts into my head. To me, Tom Cruise was just a supporting role, the real stars r the samurais.

think.. think.. betta think of things to write... i dun wana breakdown...

Exclusive... A*Mei was in town to shoot a TVC. the brand: some china ice tea tt Sun Yanzi has endorsed b4. she was so herself... Bubbly, cute, chatty n showed concern to each n everyone of us there. Seeing her again was great. The last time was at her concert... next time she's coming, its for the MTV Awards on V's day...

Editing the photos for the china trip now... Need photoshop for more control but yet to install... abt the china trip, the last few entries r still, hmm, still waitin to be churned out... kinda lazy to write... mayb i shld go back to the photos.. but its getting more n more monotonous n i dun wana breakdown! argh...

Write write.. think think... argh! blank mind now... ending quote: whn u like something too much, u'll cling on too tightly cos u dun wana lose it... but clinging on too tight, u'll still lose it... haiz... mayb i shld just go to my room n let go...

At the hotel, the girls got down the maxi cab. one of them, who declined to give her full name, only calling herself PS, walk side by side wif xiao zhu n kept looking at him, not saying a word. she was star-struck. whn he got to the lobby, the girls were kept out. whn PS got back to the maxi cab, the only thing she said was "jiao nuan" (legs soft meaning: weak at her knees). She reached for her water bottle n took a few sips, heart beating very fast... "jiao nuan" she said again n again. took her a full 15 mins to return to earth. Xiao Zhu made her day...

Countdown to 2004

In a few hours its 2004. A new year to start afresh with. Looking back, this year was filled wif ups n downs.. more downs thn ups really.

i had wrote b4, as time passed whtever u do will just be a memory. so let whtever happened be just a nightmare, a memory.... A memory which i really wana forget. i'm free now... Never felt so relieved b4. i said bye to a certain person n it'll be foreva. after doin tt, i felt so relieved. just like havin a heavy load taken off me... just a question tt i'm faced with. am i weird? am i the only one ard me in my group of frds or in the world tt can accept ex-es being as close frds? am i the only one ard me in my group of frds or in the world tt can accept platonic friendship? how i define platonic? a very very close frd who is the opposite sex as u. u go out together, call each other, tease each other, punch each other n help each other, blah blah, whether u have bf/gf or not.

i had 3 very close platonic frds. one became my bf n din tok to me after i broke up wif him. maybe we din know how to tok to each other then. now its just "hi" "bye" kinda tok... i chose to say goodbye to another ex after things happened. dun be mistaken, we were as close as siblings after we broke up, but things jus happened n now i choose to hate/ignore him for life.

3rd one is my Baby. he was my listening ear n one of my closest n bestest frd. Now tt we're together, he's still someone who i tell everything to. Someone who shares all my troubles n probs. usually, somehow u'll wana keep a little stuff from yr bf, but Baby is diff. Mayb he's too close to me tt i just tell him everything. everyone will agree tt its hard to have a bf/gf who is yr bestest n closest frd at the same time. mayb its fate ah? fate, to have a person who is yr bf n yr bestest n closest frd at the same time. hehe... now, i have no more platonic frds, except my Baby... *muacks*

on the 2nd last day of the year, at approx 2.15am, showbiz lost another big shining star. She's Anita Mui. Talanted in every aspect be it performing on stage, singing or dancing. whn u c her perform, u can tell she's very confident tt she's puttin up a good show for the auidence. the song tt i'll always remb is her "why why tell me why..." always sing tt line to my parents whn i was younger if i had questions to ask them. After all these deaths of talented artistes, we have lost some great "teachers". Anita was one to look after the younger generation, like a big sister. Which was y whn she passed on, she had more thn 50 close frds ard her. even tony leung n miriam yeung cancelled the remaining promotion activities for their new movie in taiwan to rush back to hongkong. this is how much respect there is in HK for this big sister.

i hope to get my PT job soon. Louis is giving me a hand. hope i'll get it soon. too much time bumming at home. tt's y i say its a new year... time to start afresh.

Golden Horse Awards 2003

A few days back, a sad news came in... A very talented stuntman/actor Blacky Ke Shou Liang died. Rumours are saying he died from a asthma attack, some say he died due to alcohol overdose. 6 years back, ard this time, we lost Zhang Yu Sheng. In April tis year, we lost Kor Kor. now we lost him. Mayb cos i'm a media person, so i tend to be very saddened/disturbed by such news...

but a piece of good news... so far we had a few singaporean entries in the Golden Horse Awards, like Fann Wong for Best Newcomer in The Truth of Jane & Sam. Now Megan Zheng has done us proud by bringing home the award for Best Newcomer for her role in Homerun. Well, SG movies, overall, haiz...

Where have all the good film makers gone to? its true that we won awards in film festivals overseas but as for commercial films, we still suck. so wht if SGD was pumped into Jian Gui, the movie which won Angelica Lee the Best Actress award in Golden Horse? She's a Malaysian, not a Singaporean. We need actual SG commerical films coming up, wif full SG cast n crew! I guess tt'll do us proud. Homerun has at least done the minimal now... Where are the rest?

Kor Kor, thanks for your "Zui"! Jeter hurt...

Sob sob... No live telecast of MLB games on SG's ESPN yet... Made me so happy for nothing. Checked out espnstar.com n found that they only start telecasting on the 10th... They betta not push it to a later date again... So i chked mlb.com to chk out NYY's season opener's score. Thy won, but Derek Jeter (sob sob...) dislocated his shoulder n will be out of action for a while... Haizzzzzzzzzz........

There's never ending news of people getting SARS, when will it ever stop?! Poly n uni students have appealed for the institutes to be closed during this period, the ministry refused. Now, after a student from NP kena, they closed NP for 3 days n poly staff had to track those who were in contact wif tt student. I was thinking, if only these institutes are closed at the same time as the pri n sec sch n jcs, thy would not have to go thru so much trouble. Pardon me, but I think the authories are just not doing things enuff in order to contain the virus spread.

Leslie Zhang Guo Rong, singer of my all-time fave song "Zui" commited suicide on Apr Fools Day. When I first heard the news thru CNA, I was thinking, wht a crude Apr Fools joke. When CNA reported it again, the news started to sink in, but i just cant believe it. The next day, there was newspapers spread n the entertainment news progs aso reported, it was thn i really realised it was true. Although i still refuse to believe what has happened, the fact is that it has already happened. He's so so talented... "Kor Kor (which he is usually called), everyone will miss you n your songs"

His death reminded me of Zhang Yu Sheng. Although he did not take his life, he was involved in an accident which made him lay in hospital for many days, never waking up n died. The images of him layin on the hospital bed, Amei, Su Rei and other frds holding hands in a cricle saying prayers for him and an inconsable Amei who was crying n crying, all these images seems to happen jus only ystday. Even at a memorial concert on his one year death anniversary, the image of Amei crying on stage, unable to finish her song which he wrote for her, is still so fresh in my mind.

Do talented artists have to come to a not so good end? Y do thy have to pass away this way? Or are there many others who died this way, n jus that thy are in the limelight, we are able to feel the loss to the industry? Do most of them suffer from depression? Tao Zi made a comment on her show which i agree, "Leslie is like 'so up there', many of us would think twice abt calling to chat wif him cos we are jus small fries". So do great artistes have to be lonely?
