My 2014 & Into 2015

2014 was a very eventful roller coaster year filled with ups and downs, both at work and in my personal life.

At work, due to departures, I had a new section head and 2 new team leads. Separations aren't easy, and working chemistries and bonds have to be rebuilt.

In my personal life, I got married to the love of my life on our 10th anniversary. I couldn't have the wedding in my dream setting/location, so I had to settle for less and found Regent Hotel, who could bring the garden into the hotel ballroom. It was a crazy tiring day. It didn't help that the hubs was puking the whole night and the rented suit and shirt was stained with vomit... But all was good in the end thanks to my brilliant laundry skills *flips hair* and we still managed to get back the full deposit.

Then, I lost my granduncle... He may be my half granduncle and stays in Selangor, Malaysia, but distance (be it in blood relations or in actual kilometres) doesn't reduce the hurt of losing him. I vividly remember how doting and caring he was to everyone around him. There was once during the school holidays while I was still in primary school and we had a family trip in. I didn't have any appetite for dinner. So knowing that I shared the love of durians with him, he took out his basket of durians, sat down with me and told me that we are going to have durians for dinner. I don't like unripe durians and loved only ripe ones. For me, durians must be creamy and not crunchy. When we opened one which was unripe, he would say lovingly in Cantonese to leave it for him while taking another one out from the basket for me to open. So there we were, sitting on the floor, opening one durian shell after another.
And he could pass off as George Lam's, a Hong Kong singer, twin or long lost brother. I kid you not. He looks really like George Lam.
Now writing this, I can still hear his voice and remember his expressions in my head...

And then the retirement of Derek Jeter. Why oh why...

Moving into 2015, life seems a little rosier. Collected keys for our new flat and now we are awaiting to welcome a new addition into the family come September. 2 new chapters await...

In the meantime, I am having weird cravings in the span of just 1 week.
Just other night, I was craving for Blackball grass jelly really badly. I could even smell it and taste it.
And just a few minutes ago, I craved for Coke. I hardly drink carbonated drinks and even when I do, the preference is Pepsi or Root Beer. But I craved for blardi Coke... Perhaps the kid takes after Papa...

Oh yes, and Man United is no longer in mid-table this season following the sacking of Moyes and appointment of van Gaal. Yes, 2015 should continue to be just as rosy.

The "Mid-Table" Manchester United

I'm a super huge Man U fan and it pains me to see what is happening to the club now. With the departure of a title winning manager in Sir Alex Ferguson, and by bringing in a mid-table survivor in David Moyes, I have a bad feeling that the club will not do just as well as the previous years.

First sign of disaster, Moyes is not a proven title winning manager, and when he came to the club, he got rid of the existing title winning backroom staff and brought in his own.

Secondly, every club had a huge marquee signing. Arsenal, title-drought for a few seasons, even got Ozil. Man U only got a guy with afro hair called Fellaini, who keeps getting himself into offside positions. Between him and Forlan, I really don't know who's the bigger joke for Man U.

Thirdly, the way the players are moving and tactics wise, Man U is looking like Everton the last few seasons. Especially for the derby match playing now, horrendous. If this carries on, at the end of the season, if it is just purely based on table standings, Man U may not even qualify for Europa league.

It is a sad sad depressing situation... Sir Alex should stop letting Moyes have a free rein and run the show at Man U. At this point, I think Moyes deserves some hairdryer treatment...

Rant Mode On...

I finally got hunted down and was greatly disturbed by the Evil Presence. During the first visit of the year, I escaped relatively unscathed. But I wasn't that lucky today.
I really hate it and get annoyed when it happens to others and now when it has happened to myself... Let's just say, I'm just trying to keep my bitchiness to ranting on this entry and letting off some steam.
Seriously, sometimes I just wonder why... Why just can't fucking hell fuck off back into your own fucking realm. May I have God's blessings to shield me away...

While I was bathing just now, I found a freaking HUGE bruise on my lower thigh. What the hell did I ram into?!

I'm at home now and I wish for some peace and quiet after a damn lousy day, but someone somewhere nearby is practicing on the violin. Not that the person is not playing well, but I would prefer a much slower piece... Wonders if the person takes song requests...

For the record, I freaking hell hate broken records though I might be sounding like one myself now... I know that I had told myself before loads of times to STOP whining about this, I simply just can't...
Man Utd has gotten the 3rd trophy this season, Community Shield, World Club Cup and now, The Carling Cup. Looking at the squad that went up to collect the winner's medal, I can't help but imagine the what-if-Chris-Eagles-is-still-in-Man-Utd scenario... There was a huge chance he was up there collecting the medal! ARGH!

Happening Weekend

Short quick one before I succumb to the headache that made me stayed at home instead of having the reunion dinner for the winter solstice festival at my Grandma's place. So, if I sound weird, forgive me. I can't think straight now...

Finally, I was able to catch up on some sleep yesterday. Went for Rinaz's wedding dinner where I saw so many blogger friends. It was almost like a blogger gathering!

I then scooted off to a classmate's place for a Xmas meetup/gathering/party with my classmates. We then proceeded on to Butter Factory before heading home. I haven't clubbed for soooo many years, but I can say, personally, Butter's is not my favourite place if I do club on a regular basis. I prefer R&B, Hip Hop, Retro, Top 40s, etc, over House, Trance and Techno and Butter plays mainly House, with a smaller, warmer, less air-con room playing R&B/ Hip Hop.

Woke up late again today, but I woke up with a headache. It was not even a hangover, taking into the fact that I did not drink a drop of alcohol at all. On my way home, my dad sms-ed to ask if I'm going to my Grandma's place. Since I was a efw block away, I decided to reach home then tell them that I'm not feeling well. When I reached home, my parents had already left for my Grandma's place. So, I called my dad to let him know.

Rotted at home, eating tang yuan my mum left in a pot on the stove, while watching Man Utd being crowned WORLD CHAMPIONS!

Now, I'm wondering if I should go to bed or watch the 2nd half of Singapore vs. Vietnam game...

Here I Go Again... Argh...

Okay, so Johnny Evans got to start instead of "Where's" Brown lah, because the latter got a knee injury. But Brown is still on the bench leh, so is John O'Shea. Hmm, a youngster starting instead of O'Shea?

Maybe the manager's worried that O'Shea might pick up some knocks and would like to have him fully fit for the match on weekend? And thus, Evans is picked to start?

Whatever lah, whatever... So what if the squad has no depth? These are all defenders. Chris Eagles is a midfielder, so should leave. Should lah, if not dun have regular football to play.

Stop! Damnit! STOP!

I think I really ought to slap myself real hard over and over again so that I can wake up, face the real facts and the truth and move on. No more "what ifs" and "by rights" anymore!

But why do I still cry everytime it happens? What's done has been done and there's no way it can be reversed. Time can't be turned back. Why can't I ever learn? Wake up wake up... ARGH!

Man Utd won Portsmouth just now and I should be darned happy because we don't look miserable at the bottom half of the table. I am happy, but because I'm still sour, sad, disappointed, grieved, (insert your description of negative emotions here) over the transfer of Chris Eagles, I did not feel as happy as I think I would have.

Seeing the lineup, it was torturing and tormenting and I became overwhelmed by emotions and the whole vicious cycle happened all over again. With the Brazilian de Silva twins, Possebon, Campbell and Gibson named as some of the substitutes and with John O'Shea playing in central midfield, the thought that one of them could have easily been Chris Eagles once again brought tears to my eyes.

And I start to wonder again if it was the right choice... ARGH!!!

Contridicting Myself All Over Again...

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!

Fraizer Campbell started for Manchester United in the opening match against Newcastle. Rodrigo Possebon came on as a substitute and so did Rafael de Silva.

Could Chris Eagles have gotten a chance instead of them? Its a definate yes yes yes yes yes yes yes!!! But instead he played for Burnley in a 3-0 loss to Ipswich! Argh!!!

I dare not confirm that if Eagles did start and played in this opening match, Man Utd would have picked up a full 3 points. But... Argh... Rafael, can't say anything because he is a defender... But I seriously don't see how Campbell and Possebon would have been picked ahead of Eagles if Eagles is still in Man Utd!

I better stop here, before I start the Chris Eagles and the vicious cycle ranting again... Pfft!

The Vicious Cycle...

I looked at the Manchester United squad numbers registered for the 08/09 season and started crying again because I realised that, at one glance, if Chris Eagles was willing to hold out a while more, his chances of first team regular football is actually quite high.

Some youngsters were given numbers and the squad registered is actually bigger this year compared to last year. And honestly, these youngsters, I feel, are still nowhere on par with Chris Eagles, although I have high hopes and expectations of the Brazilian twins.

At this moment when I'm still grumbling, which does not change the fact that he has already signed for Burnley, I realised it becomes a vicious cycle. The cycle of me grumbling and crying about him leaving Man Utd and then trying to psycho myself that he needs regular football if he wants to have a chance to get back into the England squad and the possibility that another EPL club will buy him or Burnsley will get promoted and that will bring him back to play in the top flight.

And at this very moment, I realised that I have to add another label, "Chris Eagles"...

With the news of Sir Alex Ferguson (might be) giving youngster Fraizer Campbell a taste of EPL this season reaching my ears, my blood boiled AGAIN!

Oh, just because he scored the only goal in the testimonial match for Solksjaer and won the game!? HELLO, my Chris Eagles ALSO scored an only Man Utd goal during the pre-season Vodacom Challenge opening game against Kaiser Chiefs and saved you from a loss. Campbell is still untested while Eagles has scored in last year's EPL opening match against Everton!

Although the transfer news/rumours have been going on since end-June, early-July, he has never been really interested in leaving. He wants regular football and as a manager, you could have told him to polish his skills while he could wait till Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs to retire where he could stand a chance to have a regular football! Look at the Man Utd players who were sold to divisions below the Premier League, where are they now?! And now, I fear the same for Chris Eagles.

Eagles had been featuring regularly in the under-(age) groups for England and you can safely say that he is an England youth squad member. However, in the past 2-3 years, he was not picked. So, what is the reason? A coaching flaw in Man Utd's youth academy or England's youth academy (if there's one)? He's 22 going on 23 and now that he is playing for the lower divisions, I really doubt the chances he can play for England's senior squad.

Psst, Man Utd, you can start kicking youself for agreeing to let the fabulous Chris Eagles go... He scored in his debut appearance for Burnley...

Sir Alex Ferguson, Its Your Fault!

Man Utd have lost a promising player, Chris Eagles. Why I'm saying it's the gaffer's fault is because Eagles hasn't been getting first team appearances that he deserves! You don't even let him warm the bench lah!

I thought he had a pretty good pre-season and was actually kinda looking forward to seeing him play in this weekend's testimonial match for Solskjaer. During an interview last year, he even said that he will remain in Man Utd even if he only plays in reserves. It just goes to show how loyal he is to the club.

If Eagles is on loan to another club, I still not so sad. But now, he is actually being sold to Burnley for slightly more than a million pounds. Man Utd, look at your blardi aging midfield, the question marks over Ronaldo's future at the club, Carrick's invisibility and Nani's forever off-forms, I don't understand why Eagles has to be sold! I don't think Man Utd is so hard up for that million pounds right?

I guess this will be the last time I'll see him in the Man Utd jersey... And I'm still in a state of shock...

I'm in a happy mood today because my DARLING Chris Eagles made me happy!!! And yah lah, thanks to the stubborn old man, Sir Alex Ferguson who was willing to give him a first team appearance to play in central midfield lah... My Chris Eagles scores for Man Utd AGAIN!!!!!!

Getting REAL WET This Time Round On A Special Day

One BIG HUGE MAJOR advantage of booking the entire package with Disney is this!
After the madness, we went back to Fantasyland to fulfil my sis's wish of taking pictures with the Princesses. We queued one and a half hours to take pictures with only 3 of them lor! If we were to take with all the Princesses, I think have to spend one whole day queuing and re-queuing because they rotate and take turns too.

We then went back to California Adventure Park's Hollywood Pictures Backlot to catch what we missed, the Aladdin Musical. Thankfully again, since we booked the package with Disney, we had "preferred seating" for the musical. There was another queue specially for us and we could enter the theatre first, while hundreds waited outside. Hehe! The entire Aladdin animated film was presented musical style, with the Genie being the goofy-est and modern-est character. To me, this was the most entertaining attraction in the whole of Disneyland Resort.
1) When Aladdin summoned the Genie the first time unknowingly and got a shock, he asked Genie who was he. Genie's reply, "I'm a Mac and you're a PC."
2) Genie was holding an umbrella in a scene and guess what happened? He went, "Umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh."
3) In the film, Genie wasn't a kid per se, here in one scene, Genie threw a tantrum like a kid.
4) Towards the end when Jafar was gotten rid of, Genie turned to the pet parrot and said, "Now it's time for the Tiki Room reject."
5) The Genie's script was the only one being updated to suit the modern day. Everyone else spoke lines from the film. There are snippets on youtube and you can actually tell how Genie has been updated.

We then proceeded back to the Golden State area for the WETTEST ride in the whole of Disneyland Resort. The only way to stay dry in this ride is to seal yourself up in a poncho or waterproof yourself some way or another. With each bump, water flooded in. We were then on the track up to a mini fall, after the a-few-feet plunge, I was half wet while some were a quarter wet. My sis and I were discussing how wet we get is depending on heng or suay, and whether we land first when we do the final plunge down. But we were so damn wrong. At the final plunge, water was sent into the raft, making the bottom half of our bodies wet (I could feel water going into my underwear lor) and water was sent up into the air, landing into the raft, making the top half of our bodies wet. There was no escaping regardless of where you sit or whether who lands first.Drenched, we proceeded on to the "Soarin' Over California" ride, which was a simulator ride, suspended in mid-air with an Omni Theatre sized screen, minus away the sharp movements.

We then moved on to Paradise Pier, which was like a fun fair. Of so many rides there, we only took the Mulholland Madness, which was a roller coaster ride. Some were blah like the ride where you are brought up in mid-air and go round and round as though you are flying on Dumbo, while some we did not dare to take on, like the roller coaster that goes upside down, the vertical tower plunge down thingy, or the ferris wheel, Sun Wheel.With that, we bade the rides and attractions goodbye and shopped for souvenirs.

Seriously, it was a good thing we had the 5-Day Hopper Tickets. There were too many shows, different parades taking place, too many rides and there was too much to cover in the Parks. To catch every single thing avaliable, weekends are the best days as all shows and parades will be avaliable, however, also because it is the weekend, it would also mean more crowd and more time will be wasted on queuing up for the rides and attractions. Although you can cut queues by getting a special ticket for a higher price, which is valid for only one day, there is still no way to cover everything even with that ticket in a day.

While I was having fun, Man U won the Champions League title! Dear was sms-ing me, giving live commentary. Hehe...
Another joyous thing to note, David Cook wins American Idol!!! I did not manage to catch the final showdown nor did I manage to catch the result show. Heng hotel got wireless and I was able to go online. Hehe...

Graduation, Walkaround and Guns!

Sorry for the long break in updating posts. Back in Singapore already, but was touring and due to the tight schedule and long days, it is acutally kinda hard to update... You guys will know what I did soon! Ok, back to where I stop updating after talking about my induction into Phi Kappa Phi.

On Saturday of Week 2, it was Graduation Day! Well, considering that I have 3 more modules to be graded on, it was not really a graduation per se. It was more of a formality ceremony kinda thing plus the fact that we are here for the on-campus residency.


After the ceremony, we went back to the hotel for our afternoon off. A few of us decided to tour the Oklahoma Bombing Memorial at night as Dr Winn had told us earlier that the lights were beautiful there at night.

The memorial was bound by 2 gates with a pool in the middle, with "9:01" and "9:03" on them, representing the time frame of the bombing. I did not manage to get good pictures of the gates, which is quite a pity. I heard the security guard telling to another group of vistors that there were 2 or 3 pairs of siblings who died in the bombing.
I got to know of the bombing while taking the PEAF (American politics and history) class. It was related to another event, the Waco Seige (linked, but Wiki if you want to). In short, these domestic terrorists decided to retaliate against the government in regards to the Waco event. Stepping onto the ground where a truck filled with fertilizer bombs was parked and the bombs were ignited in a building where there were government offices, there was a feeling of loss and emptiness. Especially to know the fact that many children were killed as there was a childcare center in the building.
We then went back to freshen up to go join our other classmates at Citywalk, a local club. Yes, people got drunk, but not me, I didn't even drank a drop of alcohol.


On Sunday, I woke up a bit earlier, and saw Man U won and lifted the Premier League title.
It was then lunch at IHop for a few of us. During lunch, Fin told us what he saw during the night before at the Memorial. He saw a little girl, half burnt, squatting behind a dustbin. Dan also said he felt chills. But I didn't feel nor saw anything. I was kinda thinking, if I'm the one who saw the little girl, I really don't know how to react. Would I stand there crying? Would I try to comfort the little girl? Or would I just scream the daylights out of me? Fin did later revealed that his sightings did not stop after that night and that there were others in the studio during our class the following week.
After lunch, we then walked around the Bricktown area. We first went to Bass Pro, which was beside our hotel. The entire shop was done up as though it was a theme park and there were "photo spots" around the shop! It also goes to prove how readily firearms are availiable and why America is sometimes "violent"...



We then walked out towards the Botanical Gardens.

How To Take Title Away From Man Utd

I adore Man Utd, it is my favorite soccer club. So, it took me some time to gather my thoughts of yet another of my favorite players leaving my favorite football club, I'm sad, angry, fustrated, amused, bewildered, whatever reactions you can think of. With Heinze's departure, I really don't know what the manager is thinking about!

If Yosei Moringno, Arse Weng, Lafiel Benitext or even Loy Kin need any advice to win the league, here's how...

Everyone knows that Gary Neville won't be back in action so soon. Everyone knows that Patrice Evra always can't decide between attacking and defending. Everyone knows that Rio Ferdinand's and Wes (Where's) Brown's minds are often light years away. Everyone knows that you are now left with other good defenders whom you don't play often such as Nemanja Vidic, John O'Shea and Mikael Silvestre, even though they are in form because you simply refuse to drop the other 3. The rest are too young and lack experience.
By doing the "legitimate" way of sabotaging other players to get booked or use of any violent conduct that renders a ban, target Vidic, Ferdinand and Brown and any other youngsters that come along. O'Shea and Silvestre are the "calmer" ones, so a bit hard...

Since we are on the topic of booking players, please get the "hotter" heads like Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Scholes booked, so that my Chris Eagles can get to play. I had to say this because someone simply refuse to let Eagles play ahead of a player who goes by a Japanese nickname of nani, as he is now the "new invisible man", sharing the title with Michael Carrick. By the way, Nani, which coincidentally or not, is actually his real name...

Anyway, we are soooooo lacking strikers now. If Louis Saha forever does not recover match fitness, and if something happens to Carlos Tevez, good news for the rest of the Big 4 lor... Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is out, so is Wayne Rooney. So, we can only rely on ??? Don't ask me... Sell lor, sell Giuseppe Rossi lor...

If anyone noticed, this is a rant to let our anger and fustrations and I was actually crying while typing this... Please don't take this seriously... And I still blindly hope that Man Utd can win the title this year... Sigh...

Man Utd Is Now Bottom Of The Table

3 games played, 2 draws, 1 loss, adding further insult, the loss is to Man City in today's derby. Some points which I think could attribute to the situation now...

1) Fergie started Nani, and throughout his 59 minutes on the pitch, all his moves except for a few good passes, I was almost pulling out my hair, screaming nani in Japanese... His crosses were %&(^!#...

2) If Chris Eagles started instead of coming on in the 59th minute for Nani, he could have major contribution to the game. I'm not being biased, but Eagles' 31 minutes of work on the pitch was so much more beneficial compared to Nani's.

3) However matters are not settle, why can't play Gabriel Heinze? He was not even on the bench! So you have Vidic and Wes Brown whom I think were a complete mess in this game. Brown as usual is always daydreaming and Vidic, cowardly siam and result in the lone goal of the game. If it was Heinze, he would have moved forward and tackled that fella.

4) It is hard to throw a whole bunch of players who have not played together before to create miracles. The players need communication and 默契. Especially when you are playing attacking football, it is damn hard for players who have not played together to gel. How do you think Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole had so many goals for Man Utd last time?

I'm really really getting disappointed with Fergie. Like what Dear said, he prefers tried and tested players. Who doesn't? But can they gel and make the team work? Football is a blardi team game!

As my darling Gabriel Heinze's future in Man Utd is still not very decided yet, he has been dropped from no. 4 to 14, the shirt vacated by Alan Smith. Looking at no. 1 to 11, you can tell who's in the first 11 and who's not.
No. 12 has been given to Ben Foster, hinting that he is 2nd in line in goal, going by traditions. But Tomasz Kuszczak, who is actually 2nd in line in goal is not given no. 12...
Shirt no. 19 reads Gerard Piqué, and I'm really pissed about this. Firstly, as new signings and the reserves move up into the senior squad and "fill up the gaps" in the numbering, why is my Chris Eagles not being considered priority for no. 19? Secondly, during the asian tour and friendlies pre-season he was wearing 19. I'm so damn blardi pissed as he looks as if he is still in the reserves squad as compared to Piqué, Jonny Evans, Danny Simpson, Phil Bardsley, Darron Gibson, Lee Martin, and Eagles is "senior" when compared to some of them! Grr...

Actually quite pissed with the Gaffer. He said he would not make much changes to the squad that played against Inter Milan for the FA Community Shield, only just a few. And one of the few changes was Eagles. He started againt Inter, but sat on the bench for the Shield. Bah!

Soccer Pre-Season Rantings...

$10 increase to my cable tv subscription in exchange for 3 more channels. Worth it? Well, subscribing to MUTV online cost 40 pounds per annum, about $10 per month. Judging by this equation, it's definately worth it. Although this is not the first time the pricing of the sports package has increased, I need my "live" soccer matches. A bit relunctant about the $10 increase monthly, but it sounds good enough for me. Especially so when the 3 channels are "activated" already!!!
When I got home just now, I was talking to my dad about the "extra" channels; if they are self-activated or if we would need to call up to activate them. A few hours later, I was checking cable tv program listings and schedules online and was browsing through channel 107, Goal TV 1. I saw "Pre-season MU Match (Doncaster vs United) 3/8/2007 (Live) 02:00 AM - 05:00 AM". The time then was 2.25am already. I quickly jumped out of my chair, ran to the living room and switch on the TV to try if I'm able to view the channel. Right now, I'm happily watching...

This little boy has an English passport and moved over to Australia a few years back. According to reports circulating on the Internet now and which version you may choose to believe in, the actual fact was that his English grandfather received a DVD from the boy's parents and submitted a copy to Man Utd. This DVD is somewhat like a "update" on how the family is doing in Australia and the grandfather, amazed at his grandson's soccer skills, decided to submit a copy in to Man Utd.
